Never Say to Your Daughter

As fathers, we are commonly not really good at communication with our teen daughters. We can contend, to an extent, by continuing dumb as much as imaginable. Occasionally, altho, we accept to reply calls into question, give biddings (which are commonly at once disobeyed) and apply our opinion. Us Dads acknowledge, naturally, that our belief ranks way belt down there, a little bluer than pond slime, but we have to give them anyhow. There are some vocalizations, though, that are invitations to calamity. These you had better annul at all costs, if you prefer to have a reasonably calm life. Here's ten of the worst...

1. Are you getting fat?

2. Give me your cell. I would like to check your calls. A better mind than these is to go find a grizzly and bang it in the guys with your spiked boosting boots. You'll break away better.

3. Nah, you can't accept the Apple iPhone. You are able to have mama old phone. It's nice and simple.

4. Is that a new top you're bearing? Usual answer: "Dad, I purchased this thing two years ago!"

5. If she calls for you, "Do you like my hair?" NEVER say, "Why, what did you do to it?"

6. What do you need brands for? Why don't you just wear cheap clothes?

7. I called that guy you were talking to in town the other day. I asked for him over for lunch. Is that okay?

8. Is that a hickey on your nose?

9. I'm adopting your iPod away, for your grades are down. Oh Boy! Asta La Vista Baby!

10. I've invited your instructor over for dinner.

Telling any one of these heedless things will ensure that you get a eruption of vitriol from your teenager. Using all ten is masochistic insanity, and could disrupt the universe and cause earthquakes and bad TV reception.

There's no denying that teenagers certainly make life interesting. Remember how bored you got as a teenager? Well, since you've had teenagers yourself, I bet the boredom went away! We're too busy defending ourselves and carefully checking each word we say!
